The ACCESS Program is a 5-year global program, sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), that aims to improve the health and survival of mothers and their newborns.ACCESS works to expand coverage, access and use of key maternal and newborn health services across a continuum of care from the household to the hospital.JHPIEGO implements the program in partnership with Save the Children, Constella Futures, the Academy for Educational Development, the American College of Nurse-Midwives and IMA World Health.The ACCESS Program works with USAID missions, governments, nongovernmental organizations, local communities and partner agencies in developing countries to achieve sustainable improvements in maternal and newborn health and survival. It is implemented by JHPIEGO, in partnership with Save the Children, Constella Futures, AED, the American College of Nurse-Midwives and IMA World Health. Currently, ACCESS has three associate awards: the ACCESS-FP Program, ACCESS-HSSP in Afghanistan and the ACCESS/Cambodia Program.

ENCAP is a USAID cooperative program to build capacity for environmental assessment and environmentally sound design in Africa. The program focus is small scale development activities. USAID environment programs across Africa are demonstrating the sector’s ability to be a robust vehicle for rural economic growth, stronger local governance, and conflict mitigation as well as reduced degradation. Sub-Saharan Africa has abundant natural resources that can be a major contributor to sustained economic growth. Several countries in the region have implemented highly innovative community-based approaches to improve the management of their natural resource base and to extend the economic benefits to lower income households.

USAID works with all participants in agricultural development to support efforts to increase productivity …from farmers and their organizations (including cooperatives) to scientists working to develop new, more productive varieties; from agribusinesses seeking to develop new, profitable markets to governments providing the sound legal framework within which businesses can operate; from the schools and universities that train future farmers and businesspeople to the research labs where scientists develop new technologies; and from local communities working to manage their available natural resources for sustainable production to regional organizations seeking to lower barriers to trade between countries.

The East Asia and Pacific Environmental Initiative (EAPEI) addresses critical environmental challenges and opportunities in East Asia and the Pacific in the areas of forest resources management and coastal and marine resources management. The EAPEI works to compliment other US government investment in the region by supporting transboundary, cross-border and regional activities and institutions and by supporting activities in USAID non-presence countries.

As DEFRA announced on October 5th, 2005: Our climate is changing and there is already compelling evidence that animals and plants have been affected. We conducted a literature review and consulted experts through a specially organised international workshop to identify the range of climate change impacts and to consider how migrant populations could be affected by these changes. From Ridge to Reef, a part of The Integrated Water and Coastal Resources Management Indefinite Quantity Contract, is a simple and efficient way for USAID Missions, regional bureaus, and USAID/Washington to access expertise in a wide variety of water resource topics for USAID programs that support water for people, water for food, water for nature and water for jobs. It is managed by the Chemonics International Consortium and involves a total of twelve partner organizations. This website is for the USAID Water IQC that Chemonics holds. It is maintained and funded by the Water IQC consortium.
